Dennis Roth, PT, Owner
St. Peters Location
Dennis Roth is a native of St. Charles, MO, graduate from Washington
University School of Medicine (St. Louis, Missouri) and is
Board Certified in the State of Missouri specializing in Sports
& Orthopedic Physical Therapy. He also received his Doctorate degree in June, 2010.
In August of 1986, he founded and is co-owner of St. Charles Sports & Physical Therapy.
He has worked with members of the St. Louis Baseball Cardinals, U.S. Professional Golf Association, including being chosen as part of the medical staff assisting players for the 2004 US Senior Open held at Bellerive Country Club.
In addition he was the team Physical Therapist for the Missouri River Otter's Professional Hockey Team as well as providing care for the St. Louis Steamer Soccer Team, St. Louis Soccer Club (formally Busch Soccer Club) and many local High School Athletes. In addition to his extensive orthopedic expertise he enjoys working with Geriatrics of all ages and currently is becoming certified as a Exercise Expert for the Aging Adult. (CEEAA)
His personal interest consists of physical fitness, traveling, and playing golf with his wife, family and friends. He was born and raised in St. Charles, Missouri with his wife Cindy, and his two children Erin and Alex.
Dave Bortfeld, MPT, Owner
St. Charles Location
Dave Bortfeld is a life long resident of St. Charles and has enjoyed treating his patients
over the past 27 years. Dave graduated with a Physical Therapy degree from the
University of Missouri – Columbia in 1984, “Go Tigers!” A licensed Physical Therapist
in the State of Missouri, Dave began his career at St. Joseph’s Health Center in St.
Charles. In 1988, he joined Dennis Roth as co-owner of St. Charles Sports & Physical
Therapy.
Since that time, Dave has attended numerous continuing education courses in Athletic Training, Shoulder Rehabilitation, The Throwing Athlete, Sacral Iliac Dysfunction, McKenzie Low Back Care, Neck Mobilization, Balance Retraining, and many others. In his experience, Dave has treated a cache of professional and semi-pro athletes, including St. Louis Cardinal Baseball and Football athletes, St. Louis Steamers Soccer, Professional Wrestler – Randy Orton, and Tennis Professional – Jimmy Connors. He has also assisted with treating St. Charles local semi-pro teams for baseball, hockey, and indoor arena football.
Dave is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and an active board member of MIRA (Midwest Independent Rehab. Association). MIRA is working to insure excellence in patient care in the outpatient setting.
Dave, his wife Janet, and 3 children have been an active part of the community through church involvement, volunteering and the local sports community. He enjoys softball, camping, fishing, and golf in his leisure time.
Stacey Batson, DPT
St. Peters Location
After growing up in Naperville, IL, Stacey attended Saint Louis University, where she
graduated Summa Cum Laude and Graduating Student of the Year of the Doisy College
of Heath Science in 2008 with a Bachelors in Exercise Science and a Doctorate in
Physical Therapy in 2010.
After graduation, Stacey started working for St. Charles Sports & Physical Therapy in the O’Fallon clinic. Although she currently works full-time between the St. Charles clinic and St. Peters clinic, she frequently fills in at the O’Fallon and Wentzville clinics. Stacey enjoys working with a variety of patients of all ages, from sports injuries to balance and gait impairments. She believes in the importance of hands-on treatment during the course of a patient’s rehabilitation and loves interacting with her patients.
During her free-time, Stacey participates in a variety of sports, from sand volleyball to softball and skiing. She also enjoys singing and listening to a variety of music. Recently married, she enjoys spending time with her husband and friends and takes frequent trips to the Chicago-area to visit family.
Kathryn Eggimann, PTA B.S.
St. Charles Location
Kathryn graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science- Exercise Science from the University
of Southern Indiana and her Physical Therapist Assistant Degree from Southern Illinois
University. She has been certified since 2004 and has enjoyed continuing education
courses on Myo Fascial Release, Sports Medicine, SI joint and Pelvic Girdle, ASTYM,
and the Shoulder in order to continue gaining knowledge and treatment techniques in
these areas.
Along with the rest of the staff at St. Charles Sports and Physical Therapy, Kathryn feels an effective treatment includes hands-on manual therapy techniques in combination with functional exercises in order for patients to return to all normal activities whether that’s playing a sport or just playing with the grandkids.
Kathryn is a former figure skater and collegiate cheerleader. She now enjoys coaching cheerleading and spends her free time rollerblading, jogging, playing golf, and doing cross-fit training. Kathryn and her husband own Fitness Delivered: an in-home personal training business.
Lesa Goodman, PT
O'Fallon Location
Lesa, a St. Charles County native, attended St. Dominic High School prior to attending Maryville
University-St. Louis, where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Physical Therapy in 1998.
She began working for St. Charles Sports and Physical Therapy immediately after graduation.
She currently works at our O'Fallon office. She has attended several training courses on Strain
CounterStrain, a technique for alleviating pain by correcting somatic joint dysfunctions that she
incorporates into her treatments as needed. She also enjoys working with pediatric patients who
have orthopedic problems.
In her spare time she enjoys playing and watching sports, reading and spending time with her 2 daughters.
Amy Hellebusch, PT
Wentzville Location
Amy grew up in Warrenton, Missouri. After graduating with honors from High School,
she attended Maryville University graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of
Science in Physical Therapy.
She began her Physical Therapy career with St. John Mercy Sports and Therapy, and
BarnesCare Rehab outpatient clinic where she specialized in workmen’s compensation
claims. Amy joined St. Charles Sports and Physical Therapy in 2006.
Amy has taken numerous continuing education courses on topics including: Breast Cancer Recovery Exercise, Rotator Cuff Impingement Syndrome, Physical Therapy for Children, Muscle Energy Technique for the Lumbosacral Region, Geriatric Strengthening, Myofascial Release, Hand Injuries, Evidence-Based Rehabilitation for the Knee and Shoulder, ACL Rehabilitation, Work Ergonomics, and several more.
Outdoor activities have always been an important part of Amy’s life. She enjoys soccer, track, backpacking, volleyball, boating and water sports with her husband and two children.
Bill Peroutka, MPT, ATC
Wentzville Location
A native of St. Louis, Bill graduated 2nd in his class at St. Mary’s High School, before
attending St. Louis University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors
in Exercise Science in 1999 and a Masters in Physical Therapy in 2001. While at
St. Louis University, Bill was a Student Athletic Trainer in charge of Mens/Womens
Basketball, Swimming and Diving, & Volleyball. Bill also participated in a Football
internship with Washington University and the St. Louis Rams, as well a combined
Physical Therapy/Athletic Training Internship at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
After graduation, Bill Immediately started working for St. Charles Sports & Physical Therapy at the O’Fallon location, and became Supervising Physical Therapist in 2005. Bill now works out of our Wentzville location, where he also serves as a Clinical Instructor and the Center Coordinator of Clinical Education. Bill also continues his work for the Rehab 1 Network as an Athletic Trainer. Bill has taken numerous continuing education courses on treatment of all body parts and has a special interest in treating sports injuries, Ankle, Knee, Shoulder and Sacroiliac Joint problems.
Sports have always played a large part of Bill’s life, playing nearly every sport growing up. Bill was a Founding member of the St. Louis University Men’s Intercollegiate Division II Volleyball Team, and still enjoys playing, coaching and officiating. When not working or playing sports, Bill enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 young Boys.
Heather Schaefer, MPT
O'Fallon Location
Heather attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where she earned a Bachelor's in health
science, followed by a Master's degree in physical therapy in 2009. Heather initally came to
St. Charles Sports and Physical Therapy as a physical therapy student and returned upon her
graduation to join our staff as a full time therapist. Heather is currently a staff member at our
O'Fallon clinic and enjoys seeing orthopedic patients of all ages.
When she is not working, Heather enjoys playing volleyball, traveling, and spending time with her family and her dog.
John Stier, MPT, ATC
St. Charles Location
John began his employment at St Charles Sports and Physical Therapy in 2008. He earned his Master’s
degree in Physical Therapy from St. Louis University in 2007 after completing a series of clinical rotations
in hospital settings, private orthopedic clinics, at the Veteran’s Administration, and at the Medical Center
at Scott Air Force Base, IL.
Prior to completing his Physical Therapy degree, John received his Bachelors degree in Athletic Training from McKendree University. John has trained athletes competing in collegiate baseball, football, soccer and volleyball. As an athlete John played competitive ice hockey throughout high school and college. He competed at the national level and coached youth and high school hockey for 8 years. John’s athletic training and physical therapy background prepared him to develop each of his team’s first off-ice conditioning programs.
Before coming to SCSPT John was a valued employee at Anheuser-Busch running the Executive Health Center for seven years. John managed two gym facilities, personally trained high level executives and plant employees, performed treatments, gave weekly ergonomic and stretching presentations, and developed individualized exercise programs for employees.
Over the past several years John has treated elite circus performers from Circus Flora, Royal Hanneford Circus, Big Apple Circus, and medal winners from the International Circus Festival of Monte Carlo. John regularly treats members of the Flying Cortes trapeze troupe and members of the Flying Wallenda high wire troupe.
John’s primary interest is working with patients who have orthopedic impairments. He is currently working to attain an Orthopedic Certification Specialty (OCS). For professional development John has attended numerous continuing education courses, including National Physical Therapy conferences. To further develop Physical Therapy as a profession John has worked closely with St. Louis University and University of Missouri mentoring Physical Therapy students during their clinical rotations.
John embraces an active lifestyle by cooking healthy meals, practicing Bikram yoga, and participating in TRX suspension training. John enjoys competing in adventure races such as the Mud Run, Warrior Dash, and was a finisher in the 2010 St. Louis Go! Half Marathon.
