WHAT DO OUR PHYSICAL THERAPISTS DO?
1. Assess a patient's level of mobility, strength, endurance and other physical abilities to determine the impact of their illness or injury on their physical function, whether at work, rest or play.
2. Evaluate the condition and develop a treatment plan to restore movement and reduce pain or limitations to mobility.
3. Treat the condition and help the patient understand its effect on their function.
4. Measure the patient's progress regularly and adjust the treatment accordingly.
5. Advise the patient on how to manage their condition independently and help the patient prevent avoidable recurrences or complications.
What do Our Physical Therapists do?
When you see our Physical Therapist, a thorough assessment will be completed that may include your health history, evaluation of pain and movement patterns, strength, joint range of motion, reflexes, sensation and cardio-respiratory status.
Our Physical Therapists promote independence, including emphasis on how you can help yourself. For example, you may be shown exercises that you can do between treatment sessions and how to set goals to achieve results. Where appropriate, they also advise care givers on how they can help you.
